The comments section is quite revealing in this article on Deathbed Choirs in the HuffPost. Readers had mixed feelings and felt uncomfortable about strangers being present. Should deathbed choir emerge as a popular trend, it would certainly add fuel to the discussions regarding the ‘good death’ performance.
Listen to the recording embedded later on in the article and tell me what you think? I didn’t find it particularly relaxing, but did think of other genres and harmonies that do help me relax. I think I would be disturbed by their presence, unless they were friends – who would likely find more comfort in the act, doing something in the face of powerlessness, than doing nothing at all.
